Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Loire Valley is dotted with nearly 3,000 ch\u00e2teaux. What do they have in common? They were built mainly during the Renaissance, although some of them date back to the Middle Ages. This is exactly the case at Ch\u00e2teau de Loches, just half an hour from the campsite, which combines an imposing medieval keep with a Renaissance royal dwelling. <\/p><\/div><\/div>

Other architectural jewels can be visited within a 30-35 minute radius, starting with the Ch\u00e2teau de Villandry, a must-see on your Loire Valley ch\u00e2teaux vacation, which has elegantly stood the test of time and is accompanied by gardens of rare splendor. While Villandry bears the imprint of Fran\u00e7ois I\u1d49\u02b3, its neighbor Langeais is known for being the ch\u00e2teau of Louis XI and having hosted the wedding of Anne de Bretagne to Charles VIII: an original ch\u00e2teau with a large park laid out in a very playful way. <\/p>

The Ch\u00e2teau d’Uss\u00e9 is just as much fun! Just 40 km from our campsite, on the banks of the Loire, it’s so magical that it inspired Charles Perrault to write Sleeping Beauty. Its gardens, designed by Le N\u00f4tre, are among the finest in the region. Not to be outdone, Ch\u00e2teau de Chenonceau boasts the majestic gardens of Catherine de M\u00e9dicis and Diane de Poitiers, not to mention the masterpiece of a ch\u00e2teau with arches spanning the Cher River. <\/p>

And what about Azay-le-Rideau? The closest Renaissance jewel to the campsite, it’s also one of the most beautiful ch\u00e2teaux to visit during your Loire Valley vacation. It will charm you with its original position on the water and its romantic park, magical at any time of day! <\/p>

The third area is at the very heart of nature: a 7-hectare lake, with a sandy beach and water games to enjoy the pleasures of the water. Nearby Beaulieu-l\u00e8s-Loches and Rochecorbon are also among the Petites Cit\u00e9s de Caract\u00e8re worth visiting. And don’t miss the emblematic cities of Tours, Saumur and Orl\u00e9ans: all boast a rich heritage that bears witness to the glorious past of a region prized by kings. <\/p>

Nature in the Loire Valley<\/h3>

To discover the other assets of the Loire Valley, get on your bike! Cycling the Loire Valley is one of the best experiences you can have, especially on the 30-odd kilometers of greenway between Amboise and Tours, where you can enjoy superb panoramas of the river and spectacular views of castles and troglodyte villages. <\/p>
