Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Loire Valley is dotted with nearly 3,000 châteaux. What do they have in common? They were built mainly during the Renaissance, although some of them date back to the Middle Ages. This is exactly the case at Château de Loches, just half an hour from the campsite, which combines an imposing medieval keep with a Renaissance royal dwelling.

Other architectural jewels can be visited within a 30-35 minute radius, starting with the Château de Villandry, a must-see on your Loire Valley châteaux vacation, which has elegantly stood the test of time and is accompanied by gardens of rare splendor. While Villandry bears the imprint of François Iᵉʳ, its neighbor Langeais is known for being the château of Louis XI and having hosted the wedding of Anne de Bretagne to Charles VIII: an original château with a large park laid out in a very playful way.

The Château d’Ussé is just as much fun! Just 40 km from our campsite, on the banks of the Loire, it’s so magical that it inspired Charles Perrault to write Sleeping Beauty. Its gardens, designed by Le Nôtre, are among the finest in the region. Not to be outdone, Château de Chenonceau boasts the majestic gardens of Catherine de Médicis and Diane de Poitiers, not to mention the masterpiece of a château with arches spanning the Cher River.

And what about Azay-le-Rideau? The closest Renaissance jewel to the campsite, it’s also one of the most beautiful châteaux to visit during your Loire Valley vacation. It will charm you with its original position on the water and its romantic park, magical at any time of day!

Our campsite has a triple aquatic area: three atmospheres to enjoy the pleasures of swimming! The large outdoor pool features a paddling pool, slides and a tropical pool. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, take a swim in the heated indoor pool, framed by transparent walls offering an incomparable view of the outside. The third area is at the very heart of nature: a 7-hectare lake, with a sandy beach and water games to enjoy the pleasures of the water. Our campsite in the Châteaux de la Loire region offers a wide range of activities, thanks in particular to our 100 hectares of forest. Walks, adventure courses, laser games… The 100% natural leisure activities at Parc de Fierbois will be a highlight of your vacation. Nearby Beaulieu-lès-Loches and Rochecorbon are also among the Petites Cités de Caractère worth visiting. And don’t miss the emblematic cities of Tours, Saumur and Orléans: all boast a rich heritage that bears witness to the glorious past of a region prized by kings.

Nature in the Loire Valley

To discover the other assets of the Loire Valley, get on your bike! Cycling the Loire Valley is one of the best experiences you can have, especially on the 30-odd kilometers of greenway between Amboise and Tours, where you can enjoy superb panoramas of the river and spectacular views of castles and troglodyte villages.

Your vacation in the châteaux of the Loire Valley will also be an opportunity to go canoeing or kayaking on the Loire, or to go hiking: there are many paths around Villandry and Azay-le-Rideau, and you can even follow the GR3 for a long hike near the châteaux.
