Tourism in the Loire Valley
Our location is perfect for visiting all that the region has to offer.
The Loire Valley, a UNESCO world heritage site since 2000, invites you to discover its rich history through historic monuments and gorgeous scenery.
Most of the Loire Castles were built or underwent major renovations during the French Renaissance. Many of the castles have medieval origins which are still visible today. The Loire Valley was classified as a UNESCO world heritage site in 2000 because of its dense concentration of historical monuments.
Food and wine are part of this region and offer much to be discovered. The region also has many recreational activities with the Futuroscope Park in Poitiers, less than 45 min away and the ZooParc de Beauval, 60 minutes from Parc de Fierbois.

The Loire Castles
The fight for domination of Touraine between the House of Blois and the House of Anjou led to the construction of fortresses and castles by many kings and lords. Most of these gorgeous buildings were remodeled during the French Renaissance, making them famous.
Today, there are nearly 3,000 Loire Castles. These architectural gems, whose stones carry major episodes in the history of France, are mostly concentrated in the Loire Valley, in the towns of Azay-le-Rideau, Chenonceau, Ussé, Langeais, Loches, Chinon, Villandry and Amboise, all less than 50 km from Castel Parc de Fierbois. The city of Tours, and the gorgeous Chambord Castle is only 100 km from your next holiday destination in Indre-et-Loire.

Sainte-Catherine-de-Fierbois
In the Middle Ages, the Fierbois Church, dedicated to Saint Catherine, patron saint of soldiers, was renowned for many miracles.
Joan of Arc came there in 1429 on her way to Chinon to meet the Dauphin. After convincing him to provide her with an army, Joan sent for her sword at the church of Sainte-Catherine de Fierbois as the voices instructed her. This sword engraved with five crosses never left her side, not even when she was captured.
The Sainte-Catherine de Fierbois Church has always been a pilgrimage site along the Santiago de Compostela and was a major site in the Middle Ages. The church is also a historical monument.
